Shenk's Ferry

2 to 6 pm

This workshop is being conducted in what is arguably the best spring wildflower displays in the Eastern United States, Shenk's Ferry Wildflower Preserve. It is part of the Holtwood Environmental Preserve  in south-eastern Pennsylvania next to the Susquehanna River. Like the rest of the Holtwood Environmental Preserve, Shenk's Ferry is managed by PPL. It is known for its extensive variety of spring woodland flowers. This workshop is timed to coincide with the blooming of trillium, Dutchman's britches, Virginia bluebells, spring beauty, wild violets and other spices of wildflower.

In this workshop we will primarily be concentrating on making portraits of wildflowers, concentrating on composition and controlling the light on the subject and the background. But there are opportunities for incorporation wildflowers in general landscape images as well as images of flowing water in the creek.

Shenk's Ferry is about a 45 minute drive from the West Chester Pa. area. Directions will be provided to participants. More images from Shenk's Ferry Wildflower Preserve can be found  here.

General information about our ½ day Composition Workshops can be found here.
